I See 'Opportunities' Over 'Obligations'

So far autumn has been an extremely busy period for me and I'm not going to lie, I've been finding it pretty tough to cope. Being a perfectionist, I tend to spend too long on tasks as it is never mind at a time like this when I'm even more stretched for time. Once upon a time I would have felt very sorry for myself that I have so much to juggle at the moment. I would have felt incredibly stressed out and held down by the weight of all my current responsibilities. Of all the people who are counting on me to get things done, myself included.

I realised though that however I look at it, whichever way I cut it, I have to get shit done. Simple as. Whether I decide to feel sad, frustrated or anxious from the pressure, I have to rise to it because it's what I signed up for. Sitting down and really accepting this fact, I realised that I had two choices. I could push through this period feeling harassed, dejected and overwhelmed or I could approach it pragmatically and positively and draw from the experience. I decided to choose the latter.

A Weekend in Paris - Travel Vlog | YouTube

You may remember that I went to Paris recently and so I thought that it'd be jolly decent of me to share a Paris travel vlog from my trip with you. As we were there visiting George's friend, I kind of tried to film as unobtrusively as I could so there perhaps aren't quite as many artistic shots as I would have liked to capture but, hey, it's just an excuse to go back right?

Smart Casual University Outfit Inspiration

I find that one thing that really takes the 'meh' out of my Monday is having a stylish outfit ready and waiting for me to wear. Not only does it save me time so that I can hit the snooze button but it's also just such a mood booster leaving the house knowing I look put together. Here's some university outfit inspiration that's as comfy as it is smart - also ideal for casual Friday at work or Saturday shopping with the girls.

Perfectly Pink in Paris' Le Parc des Buttes-Chaumont

Every now and then we stumble across those magical pieces we see and just know that we have to have. It doesn't matter what you came into the shop for,  nor what your current bank balance may say. Beg, steal or borrow, you will walk away with said item.

How delightful then, when we flip the tag over with baited breath, only to see that the price is nothing short of a steal and the beautiful item won't cost us a kidney or a criminal record. Those are the moments I love to share on Jade With Envy.

What Notting Hill Carnival Is Really Like

I was going to write a post about mindfulness this bank holiday to get us all mentally prepared to return to you-know-where tomorrow but I thought, 'WTF Jade? No one wants to think about that today!' so I settled on writing about a massive street party instead - cue cheers and whooping. Let's talk Notting Hill Carnival.

What really made me want to write about the Carnival actually was the déjà vu of inviting friends to come along each year only to be met with a resounding chorus of, 'it's not my thing' from people who I know for a fact have never been. How can you know that you don't like something you've never tried? Having been to 'Carnival' many times since I was a small child and having been friends with these people for several years, I can say with much confidence that actually Carnival is very much 'their thing' because I've witnessed them make day drinking, dancing in the street and general merriment, often with total strangers, 'their thing' many many times. However for some reason, as soon as there's a cultural element with which they're not entirely familiar involved suddenly it's not 'their thing'. Well sorry but I don't buy the bullshit.

Neverland London | A BYOB Bar With A Twist

My social calendar has been off the charts this summer with weddings, birthdays and BBQs and whilst that fills me with joy, it also simultaneously empties my pockets. At these times I would usually retreat to my home, instead indulging in DIY drinks on my balcony until the pennies had replenished and I could afford to venture out into the city again. Not any more.

It seems now BYOB isn't just for your best mate's BBQ and I couldn't be happier. Bring on the £5.50 Tesco prosecco, I'm heading to Neverland.
