I See 'Opportunities' Over 'Obligations'

So far autumn has been an extremely busy period for me and I'm not going to lie, I've been finding it pretty tough to cope. Being a perfectionist, I tend to spend too long on tasks as it is never mind at a time like this when I'm even more stretched for time. Once upon a time I would have felt very sorry for myself that I have so much to juggle at the moment. I would have felt incredibly stressed out and held down by the weight of all my current responsibilities. Of all the people who are counting on me to get things done, myself included.

I realised though that however I look at it, whichever way I cut it, I have to get shit done. Simple as. Whether I decide to feel sad, frustrated or anxious from the pressure, I have to rise to it because it's what I signed up for. Sitting down and really accepting this fact, I realised that I had two choices. I could push through this period feeling harassed, dejected and overwhelmed or I could approach it pragmatically and positively and draw from the experience. I decided to choose the latter.

A Weekend in Paris - Travel Vlog | YouTube

You may remember that I went to Paris recently and so I thought that it'd be jolly decent of me to share a Paris travel vlog from my trip with you. As we were there visiting George's friend, I kind of tried to film as unobtrusively as I could so there perhaps aren't quite as many artistic shots as I would have liked to capture but, hey, it's just an excuse to go back right?

Smart Casual University Outfit Inspiration

I find that one thing that really takes the 'meh' out of my Monday is having a stylish outfit ready and waiting for me to wear. Not only does it save me time so that I can hit the snooze button but it's also just such a mood booster leaving the house knowing I look put together. Here's some university outfit inspiration that's as comfy as it is smart - also ideal for casual Friday at work or Saturday shopping with the girls.

Perfectly Pink in Paris' Le Parc des Buttes-Chaumont

Every now and then we stumble across those magical pieces we see and just know that we have to have. It doesn't matter what you came into the shop for,  nor what your current bank balance may say. Beg, steal or borrow, you will walk away with said item.

How delightful then, when we flip the tag over with baited breath, only to see that the price is nothing short of a steal and the beautiful item won't cost us a kidney or a criminal record. Those are the moments I love to share on Jade With Envy.

What Notting Hill Carnival Is Really Like

I was going to write a post about mindfulness this bank holiday to get us all mentally prepared to return to you-know-where tomorrow but I thought, 'WTF Jade? No one wants to think about that today!' so I settled on writing about a massive street party instead - cue cheers and whooping. Let's talk Notting Hill Carnival.

What really made me want to write about the Carnival actually was the déjà vu of inviting friends to come along each year only to be met with a resounding chorus of, 'it's not my thing' from people who I know for a fact have never been. How can you know that you don't like something you've never tried? Having been to 'Carnival' many times since I was a small child and having been friends with these people for several years, I can say with much confidence that actually Carnival is very much 'their thing' because I've witnessed them make day drinking, dancing in the street and general merriment, often with total strangers, 'their thing' many many times. However for some reason, as soon as there's a cultural element with which they're not entirely familiar involved suddenly it's not 'their thing'. Well sorry but I don't buy the bullshit.

Neverland London | A BYOB Bar With A Twist

My social calendar has been off the charts this summer with weddings, birthdays and BBQs and whilst that fills me with joy, it also simultaneously empties my pockets. At these times I would usually retreat to my home, instead indulging in DIY drinks on my balcony until the pennies had replenished and I could afford to venture out into the city again. Not any more.

It seems now BYOB isn't just for your best mate's BBQ and I couldn't be happier. Bring on the £5.50 Tesco prosecco, I'm heading to Neverland.

You Are What You Wear... in Paris

When I found out I was going to Paris for a long summer weekend my first thought was 'ohh the amazing outfits I can wear!'.

Actually, thinking about it, my first thought was 'Oh the amazing carbs I can eat!' followed soon after by 'oh how will I still fit into all the amazing outfits I can wear?'. Luckily for me I somehow managed to enjoy both.

The Perfect Wednesday Night With Mary Kay

Last week I had the pleasure of attending the Mary Kay #PinkPositive Party in London's beautiful Dalloway Terrace with my fave, Jodie. It was the perfect midweek cocktail of pretty beauty products, delicious drinks and, most importantly, great company. Shout out to their girl Deborah who was hilarious, engaging and everything you want in a PR.

On arrival we were greeted with boujee rosé wine slushie machine cocktails made to order and I knew it had been worth the rush hour schlep across London.

Paris Is Always A Good Idea

I'm so tired I'm having to fight to keep my head from lolling onto my keyboard. I'm going to Paris weekend and I have so much work to catch up on in the meantime that I'm almost finding it hard to get excited to go. Almost. But not quite!

This moodboard is definitely helping to lift my spirits. It's a mix of the tone of just some of the shoots I'm hoping to get done whilst I'm out there just to give you a little sneak peek! How Everyone Can Benefit From A Personal Brand

Quite often the way that others see us has a very real and direct effect on the way that we feel about ourselves. The fabulous thing about that is that we have almost full control over the way that others see us.

Why We Should All Be Buying Supermarket Flowers

Few things bring me such simple joy as fresh flowers around my home. I recently decluttered my bedside table and moved away the empty perfume bottles, abandoned books (I never get into bed with enough energy left to read) and excess electricals and replaced them with something far nicer to wake up to - a beautiful bouquet of white roses. The best thing about them? They cost just £3.50.

DIY Summer Drinks Done Right

I'm obsessed with this sunshine that we've been having in England. I know that it's probably a product of global warming and thus a hideous sign that the world is ending, literally, but since it's here I figure we might as well enjoy it eh?

My favourite passtime at the moment is to play hostess and have people over for sunset drinks on our balcony. Why pay ten times the price to stand in a sweaty, packed bar when you can play mixologist in the comfort of your own space? I'd much rather invite people into my home and put the cash towards a new pair of shoes or holiday savings.

One of the ways that I like to make sure that my life feels that bit more luxurious every day is to inject even the smallest moment with an element of elegance. Metallic Body Tattoos: The Summer Accessory You're Missing

These gorgeous metallic hand tattoos are the summer accessory that you just may have overlooked and, never one to see an opportunity missed, I had to come on here to bring them to light again, I mean - HOW GORGEOUS ARE THEY?!?! Can you believe this one was only £2.50 and I still have some left.

Body tattoos were first revived a few summers ago, delighting fellow 90s kids in the nostalgia of pressing a damp transfer sticker to our shoulder and peeling it away to reveal your new temporary 'ink'. Fast forward 20 years and gone are the Chinese symbols and butterflies. Simple brown Henna tattoos of 2014? We're way past that. The gold upper arm tat? That's soooo 2016. Nope, in summer 2017 we're offered ornate hand tattoos in many molten metallic shades that look like luxurious jewellery that has become one with your skin. From beautiful bohemian imagery to intricate tribal sketches and ornate art deco designs.  I, for one, am down.

How to Pick Yourself Up When You're Feeling Down

Since I posted about feeling down on Saturday, I've managed to pick myself up again so I thought that in today's post I'd share how I lift myself out of a bad mood.

As I said in that post, there's nothing at all weird or wrong with getting down sometimes but I've learnt that it ultimately does no good to wallow or allow yourself to stay down if at all possible so here's how I avoid it.

For The Love of Lace

Happy Weekend everyone! I'm having to write this post sooo quickly because BT are going to cut off my internet in 12 minutes (long story but basically BT sucks in my opinion #dontsue) so please excuse any typos or weird formatting issues. I'll fix it tomorrow, assuming my internet works then. It's probably good timing anyway as, despite the earlier sunshine, I'm in a really weird funk today.

VLOG: My Birthday Weekend Celebrations & SO MUCH FOOD!

Heyyyy I posted a new vlog! My birthday weekend also fell over Easter which resulted in a lot of food being consumed - not surprising at all if you ever watch my Instagram stories - so I decided to give the video an ironic title. Between all of the eating I managed to find time to do karaoke with my friends, have a rather tactical family Easter egg hunt and play a not-so-friendly game of rounders. I hope that you find it entertaining!

Hi all and happy Bank Holiday if it applies to you! In the spirit of my new found motivation and discipline, I'll be putting up a new video on my YouTube channel every Sunday and Wednesday at 7pm. Here's yesterday's video in case you missed it. It's a fun follow-me-around vlog where I celebrated a friend's birthday with a bottomless prosecco brunch and cocktails and then we cooked a surprise dinner for my mum on Mother's Day!

The Power of Now

I've changed. It might be that the long bank holiday weekend has given me some time alone to think. It might be that I've just celebrated another birthday, an event which always leaves me feeling a little wistful and comparing my current position with where I was the year before.

Whatever the catalyst, something has stirred in me and I can feel that big things are coming. Why else would I be writing this blog post at 5am to make my newly imposed 7am (every Mon & Fri) publish deadline?

Sophisticated Crop Top Look

So, as I mentioned , it was my birthday on Monday and so of course I had to go out and get turned up. My friends and I celebrated with drinks, karaoke and then, of course, dancing so I knew I needed something fancy but also something I could move in.

I ordered a bunch of bardot tops online but none of them were saying anything so I decided to tweak an old favourite of mine because you know I'm not one to be restricted by such simple things as the intended design of a piece.

I'm With the Band...

The majority of us may have missed out on the Coachella sunshine but we can still give off festival vibes with this rock and roll trend. Apparently band tees are a thing now and I am fully on board.

My teenage obsession with the Arctic Monkeys never took me quite so far as to purchase a t-shirt (though I do remember a certain fringed Spice Girls number - does that count?) so I'm rather glad that I'm now getting to join in.

Detox Your Wardrobe: The 5 Golden Rules

It's officially spring today (thought it may not feel like it) and we know what that means - spring cleaning your closet. By now we're all familiar with the typical 'Keep', 'Sell', 'Donate' and 'Throw' piles we make when having a clear out but I have a few extra tips that will help you to really detox and declutter your wardrobe once and for all.

For me, cleaning out my closet isn't just about getting rid of the clothes that I never wear anymore, that's easy. It's about taking the time to take a step back and really assess how my current collection makes me feel and purging anything that I no longer love. That's the reason I encourage you to think of it as a wardrobe 'detox'. It's about getting rid of the items that may be having a negative impact on your life.

DIY Ombre Glitter Nails

I don't know about you but for me Sundays are a time to relax, unwind and reset for the week ahead and that includes a killer manicure. I haven't set foot inside a nail salon in years because I'd personally rather put the money aside to spend on a meal out, a few glasses of prosecco or a nice Zara top. Instead, I prefer to DIY which is so much easier than you may think!

Dancefloor to Desk Reverse Styling

One of the most important aspects of dressing well on a budget is knowing how to work and rework pieces so that they can be subtly reintroduced to your social circle in a fresh way.

In November I showed you how I'd style this beautiful lace overlay jumpsuit for an evening occasion. Now that the festive period is over and we're stepping into spring, I need to transition some of my evening wear into the day time so that I can get more bang for my buck. In this post I'm showing you how to do just that with a few simple styling swaps.

DIY Gift Flower Box

It seems that the humble vase is no longer the number one way to present a beautiful bouquet. If our Instagram feeds are anything to go by, nowadays there is no superior way to present someone with their favourite florals than carefully arranged inside a fancy flower box.

Sadly for us, hat box arrangements tend to cost around £100 from the high-end florists they hail from but - fear not! With Mother's Day just around the corner, I have a DIY version that costs less than your bog standard bunch from your local florist but looks like it actually costs a lot more. Here's how to DIY.

The Superb Shirt Dress

There's something so beautiful about a great shirt. Pair it with a silk scarf and a pencil skirt and you have a preppy look that screams sophisticated style. Undo a few buttons, demi tuck the hem and slip on a leather skirt and you tell a whole different story. One of fun and frivolity.

Why Fashion Week is Not All It Seems...

This season, like so many before, I joined in the phenomenon that is London Fashion Week. As always, I was eager to get down to the Strand to shoot street style and I was even lucky enough to have scored some tickets to see some collections thanks to a generous friend of mine.

It was a beautiful sunny day, the best weather I've ever experienced during London Fashion Week actually having spent many a season running from show to show in the pouring rain. For once I actually liked my entire outfit and felt comfortable having sensibly selected some beautiful lace up ASOS shoes over my usual heels. For all intents and purposes it had been my smoothest LFW to date and yet, fast forward a few hours and as I stood in a room overlooking the beautiful twinkling London skyline, surrounded by majestic models and fabulous fashionistas kitted out in their couture clober, complimentary cocktail in hand, it was then that I told myself, 'I am never doing this again'.

Pretty Personal Organiser Tips

Between blogging, freelancing and everything else that I have going on, I don't know where I'd be without my Filofax. Daily 'To Do' lists are a must for me and, though I keep a more detailed Google doc of everything I need to stay on top of, I like to keep a paper list to hand that I can tick off throughout the day. Does anyone else prefer handwritten lists? There's just something so satisfying about striking off each task as you complete it.

As much as a love staying on top of things, lists can get a little bit monotonous, especially if the things on them are not that fun. To keep me inspired, I like to make mine as pretty as possible so that I feel uplifted every time I open my planner instead of weighed down. Here are some cool and pretty ideas for ways to make your personal planner a little more exciting.

How To: Dry Cleaned Looking Clothes

The high street is giving high end fashion a good run for its money nowadays and I, for one, couldn’t be happier about it. In an age where every other bloggers is totting a Fendi handbag paired with Dior booties, it's nice to know that us normal-waged folk can still look chic without breaking the bank. One tell-tale sign, however, of cut price 'couture' is crumpled clothing that looks like it's seen one too many wash cycles. Here are my top tips on how to keep your high street haul looking more Balmain than bargain bin.
